Hi all, Mick here from tassie. We have been keeping chooks for awhile but have recently started getting more serious and are expecting our first light Sussex chicks over the weekend. We have 4 light Sussex, 2 roosters (who were supposed to be hens) in their own 5m by 25m run and 2 hens who free range, but call the old kids cubby home at night. We also have 2 Rhode Island Red hens who free range and live in a chicken tractor at night time. The rhode islands are the best natured chooks I have ever owned and they love to follow us or the kids around to see what we are doing. Especially when I am out with the hoe removing thistles from our property. Seems like a great site and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in for a read.
