Hi, I'm Bonny, I have been a member for a couple of weeks but like everything else I have put off introducing myself. I live near Houston, TX and have been back into raising chickens for just over a year.
I have about 20 adult chickens that I ordered in a larger group last year from a hatchery. I have mostly Dom., and R.R., one hen I think is a Delaware, and a pair of Austrolorps (whick I have fallen in love with), I hatched a couple of mixed farmyard chicks last year and rescued a few Cochins, and other feather foots and some mixed Turkens from someone who didn't want them in her barn anymore. So I have a total of about 40 grown birds and about 35 mixed breed babies right now. And I have 9 ducks. I would like to get a few turkeys and either some peafowl or some guineis ( to take care of the snakes and stuff).
I have 3 kids a boy and 2 girls, 2, 4, and 5; I am married very happily for just over 5 years and am slowly converting him to the farm side.
I am a Agriculture Education student at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville TX and hope to be teaching in the next year or so.
I love to read when I have time, and love taking care of any type of animals (just about) and love being outside when the weather is nice.
I have become obsessed with my chickens and spend a lot of time with them and my incubator.
I just got a calf that I am bottle feeding and having a great time and my husband just told me that he wants to get an emu or two to help guard the flock and the calf, so looking for some chicks if anyone has them.
I am allways available for rescues and can answer questions about most animals but especially rabbits. I have had animals my whole life and do what I can to help any animal.
Its good to be on this site, I have already had lots of questions answered and gotten lots of good ideas for my own place. Thanks to all and hope to meet lots of great chicken loving folks. Bonny
