Hi I've been reading articles on your site for a year but hadn't joined yet. A lot of the dicussions here have helped me learn to care for my chickens.
We built a chicken pen and coop last year but an accident with on our dogs lost my whole flock.
This year we reinforced the whole pen and are in the process of building nesting boxes for my small flock of americaunas (6 so far). My granddaughter loves her peeps and she is going to help collect eggs in the mornings when we get some! LOL
Right now in Texas the weather is very hot. I was worried when I first moved the chicks outside to the pen that it was too hot 98 to 102.I didn't know what a hear distressed bird looked like but I found an article here about it. So I left a squirrel cage fan blowing across the pen till they got used to the heat. Which was very quickly. Thanks for the great information for beginners.
I look forward to reading more from the other members here and hope when I have more experience maybe I can help too.
