Hi from the high desert

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I used to raise chickens in CA's northern Sacramento Valley where summer temperatures frequently reached 117-118 F (123 F once), so I understand what facing the heat is like. I always made sure to provide heavy shade, good coop ventilation, and plenty of cool, fresh water for my flock. In addition, I had Black Australorps, which are a very heat resistant breed.
