Hi all,
I am just now getting into this site, although I found it a little while ago. I live in rural central Oho. I have live most of my life in the country, but never farmed or raised more than pets until a few years ago. When I started dating my now husband he had some chickens, but didn't really do much with them. I took over the care, but have learned by trial and error. We now have about 20 hens and 1 rooster. The "herd" as I call it is a mix of reds, buff orpingtons, and Auracaunas. I never would have guessed that chickens were so much fun. We also have a goat that we inherited when a friend couldn't handle her. Her name is PITA. We had another goat, but had to put him down, so we are currently searching for another 1 or 2 goats. I want to try raising a couple of turkeys this year too. I am very excited about the chance to learn from others!
