Hi all-
I have lurked on here for a long time, but have just recently joined.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got our first 2 RIR's when I lived in a small house in California in 2000. One passed on and I inherited an Araucana. The Aracauna passed and the one remaining RIR (Billie) went on to move to Washington State with us in 2007. She died in 2009. She was a trooper! I have also helped my mom establish her flock (8 chicks one year, 6 the next)
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I just got 6 new babies about 2 weeks ago
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 black sex-link, 2 gold sex-link and 2 Americaunas
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, travelling, reading, spending time with my family, scrabble, cooking
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Married with a one year old son, we also have 4 lazy housecats and a very old black lab. I work as a landscape gardener and enjoy living on a beautiful island in Washington State! I feel lucky to live on an acre so we are able to have our own flock of layers. We are also co-raising some meat birds later this year with some friends. I also participate in a "cow-share" so we get to milk a lovely cow each week!
