Hello,
My husband and I are new to chickens. We bought 6 chicks back in March. Four black sexlinks from the pullet bin, one rhode island red that we think is a rooster and one buff orpington that we think is a pullet. They are about 8 weeks old and have been in their coop outside for about three weeks. We bought a coop from TSC and already know that we need to modify it and build a bigger run. So far we haven't lost any of them and hopefully we will learn more to keep them happy.

Well we have named some... The rhode island red was Scarlet but since it's probably a rooster we will need a new name. My son wants to make him Alex. The buff orpington is Daisy and one of the black ones is pee-wee since she's been the smallest of all. Can't really tell the other three black ones apart enough to name.

Those are great names! When the black ones get older you could use leg bands to ID them :)
