Great photos!! The floor of my coop was, in a previous life. a Formica countertop at a local Post Net Store. They were remodeling and I got it for free!! It is seamless, and nothing sticks to it. I use straw in the bottom of the coop. I keep it pretty deep then in the morning I just use a gloved hand, or a scooper to pick out the droppings from the top of the straw. It then goes into the compost pile.

Well, this website confounds me. I typed a long message that told you all about my "girls", some behaviors, and some thank you's. I then clicked Uploads and couldn't get back to my original message---highly frustrating.

Well, in short, I thanked all who have said "Hello" and especially, Rebbetzin, for some great advice on straw and a used piece of masonite or countertop; and for the tip on throwing the top layer of droppings and straw into the compost heap of which I have and it's just waiting for the chicken manure.

Anyway, lets see if these photos make it.

Personally, I'm a divorced trial lawyer; father to 3 great adult children with 4 equally great (maybe better) granddaughters, Hercules Piel a new Bull Mastiff pup who will come to join the menagerie in about ten days. He replaces my much loved Chocolate Lab whom I've had for about 13 years and had to be put down last Christmas. I raise bees as another hobby and am on my second year with my one colony of Russian bees which are phenomenal. I'm hoping the bees are safe from the chickens!!

Great photos!! I wish my chickens could play out in the yard! But, with four resident hawks that are never very far away, they would wind up being lunch for sure! One of the girls did get out the other day, I was putting fresh water in the run. I must not have closed the door all the way. When I turned to leave, there she was happy as can be just pecking the ground. Thankfully my hens are very friendly, and I just walked over and picked her up. But, it gave me a scare.
