My name is Kathy and I live in Pleasanton TX. I am a first time chick owner and bought 24 st run silkie chicks from Ideal Poultry and Tractor Supply in hopes of getting a few pullets to keep mainly as pets (with the perk of fresh eggs). BYC has been a huge help in researching chickens and the members seem very friendly. I look forward to talking with everyone and as soon as I can download from my camera I'll post pics. I love all types of animals (dogs, cats, reptiles, rodents, etc) and already seem to be addicted to chickens after only owning them 1 1/2 weeks. I am 38 years old, have two sons ages 5 and 7 and have a wonderful husband that has not thrown me out of the house despite my need to keep every stray that happens our way.
