I have a flock of 13 hens and have questions and hopefully can just have some fun.
I guess I am supposed to give more information. We got our chickens last year for our granddaughters to learn about and hang out with. They named most of last years babies: Lilly (Americana), Jenny (Americana), Sleeping Beauty-Princess (Plymouth-Rock), Clover (Rhode Island Red). Last year we ended up with 2 roosters, both of which I gave away, along with one of the hens to my friend that had no chickens so the rooster would not be lonely.
This year we got 6 more babies: 2 Plymouth-Rock's, Salt & Pepper; 2 Americana's, Sparkles & Jenny II; 2 Jersey Giants, Midnight & Cog-burn (yes he is a rooster); I recently gave him away also, because the main reason we have chickens is, as I mentioned for the granddaughters and the roosters seem to attack the girls; I realize they are doing their job but if the girls cannot interact with the chickens, I would not spend all the money on them. As you know the cheapest part of the chickens are the chicks.
Our neighbor had a lady getting out of 'the chicken' business so we also ended up with additional hens early in the summer.
