Just getting set up to be a new chick mom. So exciting. If anyone knows of someone making coops in Vermont or New Hampshire I would love to know. Otherwise making a coop in the near future. Baby chicks are hatching at school today, so exciting.

You don't have to be a carpenter by trade to make a chicken coop. People make them out of sheds, pallets (which are often free), kids playhouses, etc. Take a look at Craigslist or any place around you like Habitat for Humanity for materials. You might even be able to find someone in your area that would like to help out with a project like that.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi and welcome to BYC.

In the absence of any sources for coops locally, you may wish to consider buying a wooden prefab shed (new or used) to use as your coop - they serve the purpose very well.

all the best
