Hello, I'm currently raising 12 chickens. Mixed breeds. 3 originally purchased as chicks. The rest our hen hatched and we've raised since eggs. Currently they are all doing very well. I'm working on the old coop and getting it back up to par for them. It went unused for a few years and needed repairs. I've had and raised chickens off and on my whole life. Also have had ducks aswell but right now only chickens!

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you, and yes I will definitely be sharing pictures soon! I have some very unique birds. Most are mixed breed because mom and dad were different breeds. Others are not related but Different types also. Very beautiful.

My coop is not exactly to my liking, it was originally built for turkeys and I now use to house my chickens. I have done several repairs on it and adjustments to try and make the chickens more comfortable. Also will be expanding the yard portion of the coop very soon. Because of my location now I'm afraid to let them free roam. So they will have the safety of a fenced in yard area. Where I used to live in New Hampshire, and first raised the original chickens, they could free roam safely. Things are different here but with a little more work im sure they will be very comfortable!

I've been raising chickens, purchased chicks, hatched eggs etc. Since 5 years old. I'm now 30. So definitely no stranger to them. Always loved them and love the eggs! I haven't raised any meat birds, more pets and laying hens. Also have had several ducks in the past but currently just chickens.

What's the easiest way to find chickens and ducks for free rehome or for sale in southern Vermont? I'm looking for some not sure how to find what's available to me locally. Thanks
