My children and I have just purchased 17 chicks. We have 2 sultans 2 polish 6 bantams and 7 pullets. We are very excited and can not wait to see what colors we end up with. We live in the city and are hoping for very few roosters but we will see. We are having an issue with our baby sultan. He/she was hatched about 36 hours ago and he does not seem to be doing well. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can help him/her grow stronger and thrive? The newly hatched babies are in a brooder closer to the light to be warmer. I have dipped it's little beak a few times in the water but it is not interested in the water. His/her little eyes seem so weak. If you can offer any help I would very much appreciate it!

Hello and welcome....glad you joined us. You may want to check out either the emergencies/diseases page or the raising baby chicks page. Lots of people on there with fantastic advice. I have had great success in past with chicks such as your by giving (finely) mashed up hard boiled egg (if you can get them to eat it). I have recently been using the save-a-chick supplement in my water and I think some even put I think its a tsp or tbsp of sugar in the water to give them a boost. But please check out those other pages under the forum tab at the top of the page to see what others have to say. Good luck with your little one
