Hi everyone. I'm Misty. I'm in Virginia. I started my chicken world this spring. I have 19 hens and roos in a coop, they are 13 weeks old. I also have 10 hens and 6 guinea keets, they are 6 weeks old, in the brooder. I really want to learn and grow to be a great chicken mama!

Hi Misty; glad you joined BYC. I also have my first flock and wow, am I learning a lot. Currently my area is experiencing an infestation of tent caterpillars (ugh). A local fellow suggested guinea fowl are great at keeping these caterpillars in check. What do you think? I am definitely considering some for next year. Thanks!

I know guineas love ticks - don't know how they feel about the taste of tent caterpillars. Ugh. I hate . them Maybe the chickens will eat them.
