Hi, everybody. I just joined BYC today, though I've been using it as a reference for months now. My in-laws started their own flock of chickens on their property about 18 months ago and I was bitten by the bug during a visit to them. This February and March, I hatched eggs from their flock to start my own backyard flock. I reared 11 chicks between the two hatchings. By some good luck, I got exactly the six hens I'm permitted to keep and so far have had good luck rehoming the roosters, with just one remaining. My in-laws flock is pretty assorted, but the eggs I hatched all came from Easter Eggers and Anconas with the available roosters being Wyandotte, Orpington and Cochin. I have aspirations of raising many kinds of fowl someday as a possible small business. I also hope someday I can have goats and alpacas, among other things. Those plans are on hold as my life has sustained some pretty heavy upheaval lately, but I hope in a year or two those plans will be back on track. I'm glad for all the info I've already learned here and I look forward to learning more still.

Welcome!
You've got a nice little flock of mix chickens there. It's nice you hatched them yourself and know their heritage. Good luck with your future and big plans, they are what keeps you going through the big turmoils in life. :D
