G’Day from down under Colette :frow Welcome!

You might find this article helpful: Pickin a Chicken and this free e-book for when your chickens arrive: My First Year With Chickens

This is a link to finding your state thread as mentioned above: Find Your State Thread

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Washington State has 2 sides Western and Eastern. Western "about 1/3 of the State" is dark rainy and gray from Oct-to at least June, some times even the 4th of July can be quite cold. The Cascade mountains keep The clouds and the rain from most of Eastern Washington, We get about 14" of rain for the year where I am at. So Eastern Washington can be quite sunny and desert like. But both sides get painted with one paint brush when describing Washington.
