I am a newbie from Western Australia. Joining to get some advise from chicken fans and find some like minded people. I currently have only 1 chicken (which is the problem) There were 3 but 2 took free ranging to the extreme and paid the price for going on the road. My 1 has been alone for over a year now and has had it tough, so she's staying til the end now.

yes, chickens are flock animals and do much better with a buddy or two - unless you choose to make her a house pet. You may want to subscribe to the Aussie threads. Maybe you can find some replacements.

"Australia, six states and one funny little island," and "Australians, where are you?" they also participate on the Emu threads. Hopefully you can find someone near you. We have quite a number of Aussies on BYC and room for many, many more.
