For several years, I have wanted to have a few layers. I think I'm ready to share this experience with my 11-year old. I've read books, scoured the internet, have a coop/run, feeder/waterer for 4-5 hens. I think I have the basic knowledge to get started. Just waiting for the pullets at the end of June. Wish us luck! I look forward to learning from members of this group!

Winter hardy dual purpose... Rock, Wyandotte, maybe Australorp. Broody Orps last choice. Looking for large eggs rather than prolific layers (family of 4).
