Hi -I am a new flock owner. Looking to have a small flock of pet hens and maybe a kind roo. I have not had chickens in years and I am so excited to finally have some again! I am a teacher at a private school- so I incorporated a hatch into my class. Kids are too far removed from the great outdoors these days. Our hatch went smoothly. Unfortunateely my Orps and Ameraucanas that were shipped don't look promising, however, of the 8 local eggs I hatched at the same time- 6 are out and healthy! My guess is that the fancy eggs were left outside at the post office- they were very cold when I got them I'm going to give them another day, as one had pipped when I left for the day. So I am here for advice for my next hatch, and possibly advice on where I could obtain gorgeous Blue Orp eggs!
