(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
A: I was always around chickens growing up at my grandma's house in the country. When I moved away I didn't have a place for any. Now back in the country again I was able to get my own flock.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
A: 31.
(3) What breeds do you have?
A: I like variety so I have;
-3 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.
-3 Splash Laced Red Wyandottes.
-3 Speckled Sussexs.
-3 Black Copper Marans.
-3 Olive Eggers.
-3 Americanas.
-13 Cornish X Rock Cross.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
A: Getting to know my little ones and seeing their different personalities and the funny things they do. It has helped me deal with everyday stress.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
A: I'm Cherokee and an artist.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
A: My husband and I have been married for almost 40 years. My family is spread out from Wisconsin to Alabama. We have 2 black cats, Raven and Richocet. 1 dog, Roxie (GSD/Malinois). We have a 3.5 acre farm. Currently I'm a pharmacy technician/inventory investigation specialist for United Health Group. Before this I was an EMR Informatics Specialist for Norton Healthcare.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
A: When doing research on something starting in August 2025 I came across this site and really like the content. So, I just went ahead and joined to benefit from it more.
