Hi there! I'm a rank beginner and starry-eyed wanna-be chicken keeper!

I've just ordered my first chickens from Ideal Hatchery (7EE's and 7 Buff Orps) and they are due to ship on January 9! I've been reading the forums here for a few weeks, trying to glean wisdom from the sage advice of those of you who have been there and done that.

I live on a small, just-getting-started farm in North Georgia. We've got chickens on the way, miniature dairy goats coming in early Spring, and a houseful of cats, dog, cockatiels, and small children already in residence.

You will love the EE. I have 5 and they are so friendly. Very cuddly.....like kitty cats. I just love mine. I don't have any Buff Orp, but I would love to own some someday.
