i had chickens before now. But I just golden lace Wyandetts from a family that hatched them out. There was 18 birds and all but 6 were hens. They are laying now. The roasters I found a home for. But I did keep one and he has been busy. I was looking for a pattern for the blanket for the hens and found this site. But I do have sad news one of my hens died today. I called the Vet and I’m taking the chicken to the vet tomorrow so she can find out why it died. I don’t want to loose anymore. She was fine yesterday. Hope it was nothing contagious. I plan on getting a few more hens net month. Haven’t decided what kind. We are also going to get some meat chickens. We have done that before also. I live in the UP of Michigan. I love to quilt and bake.

Hello, and welcome! Glad that you joined us! Sorry that you lost one of your hen's today, but it's good that you will be finding out what it died from before adding anymore new one's to your flock. Also when you bring in any new one's, your should quarantine them before letting them run with the rest of your flock. You will want to make sure that the new one's won't be bringing in anything contagious to the other one's.
