Hi I’m new to BYC. Today was a horrible day! My girls were attacked by a hawk and fox. 2 dead 1 injured with bone sticking out

My injured girl has a very small bone sticking out under her wing. It could be a rib bone. Not sure what to do. I handed only one other Jen and she is squalling for the other hens.
I have no idea what to do and I am sure others will weigh in who know more than I do. But I do know what it is like to lose a feathered friend to a fox, so I am just posting to give you a lot of hugs. I know it hurts.

:hugs :hugs :hugs

Very sorry about the attack and loss. What antiseptics do you have? Chlorhexidene 2% or Hibiclens half diluted with water, or Betadine can be used to disinfect serious wounds. Plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment can be then applied to the wound twice a day. If the bone is sticking out, a vet would be best, since infection could be seeious. Antibiotics may be needed, or surgery to remove the bone may be needed. Do you have any pictures? Is the chicken awake and standing, or will it accept any food or water?

She is awake standing. I just brought her into the house along with my other hen to keep them warm tonight. I have ointments and sprays. I’ll try to take a picture. She is not moving just standing

Thank you everyone! I feel blessed to have one of my hens return tonight. She is injured as well but must of found a great hiding place…. Merry Christmas. Maybe “Jazz” will show up tonight I left lights on for her my dog is out side and I’ll keep checking for her.

For the injured hen, half a baby aspirin should help, but be careful, as aspirin can thin the blood. @Eggcessive , do you think she can do this? I don’t want the hen to be in pain, but this is more your speed.
