Hi I’m new to chickens

I’ve never had chickens or been raised around them. I’m a big animal lover though. My husband has wanted chickens for years but I didn’t feel ready for any until- my dad had a small flock and all had gotten killed except 1 game chicken. So we rescued her and knew we’d have to get more. Another family member just happened to have a chicken visitor at her house and she didn’t know who it belonged to so we took her. She is a Barred rock (I’m guessing.. she does have a straight comb though) And then we purchased 6 more baby chicks- another barred rock, 2 cinnamon queens/golden comet, 2 black stars and 1 silver laced Wyandotte. The babies are now 8-9 weeks old. 2 of them are so sweet. We love all of our 8 pet chickens. And grateful for their eggs they bless us with.
