1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
First chickens? February 2020 when 10 came with the house we bought. We have lost half of the original crew and a few others along the way. I have learned so much in a year!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
73 + a hen on 15 eggs
(3) What breeds do you have?
A lot. I’m not sure.

ETA: I remembered another ... We have a chicken of an unknown breed. Her name is Cruze. The former owner of the house called her a “road chicken” when I asked the breed.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- The chickens’ personalities and the eggs.
- I also love when a chicken views me as safety and fly up onto me when they need to get away from the boys.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading and photography
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

6 guinea fowl (1 is from our guineas that came from the house. I saved it, Lucky, by putting the eggs in an incub when the guinea hen left the nest with only 2-3 days left. The other 16 didn’t make it.)
i am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. At this time, I do not work with clients. I teach applied behavior analysis at the graduate level online.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC through an internet search for something I was looking for. It was probably a year ago. My searches frequently bring me here. I have not had the need to ask my question after reading others’ posts ... until today.
