Hi, I'm a beginner backyard chicken raiser. We got three black Langshans on Craigslist about 6 weeks ago. They are exhibiting 'puberty' behavior and hopefully will begin laying eggs soon. We built a chicken tractor from PVC pipe and chicken wire which is where the hens are right now. I have a wire puppy pen i added to the front of the chicken tractor for a little more room. We are working on a permanent chicken coop from wood and chicken wire with a little more ground space than the tractor. The girls love the weeds I pull for them. Their favorite is long grass stems and purple vetch.

You got a nice breed. I have looked at those for a while just never could get my hands on them around here.
They have nice colored eggs too.
I love the regal apperance they have.
When you get your coop done you should post pictures (we you can on BYC) .
Hope you enjoy your new flock and glad you joined the site. You will get all the help you may need one day.

I also have Croad Langshans. I LOVE THEM! I was lucky to get to2 breeding pair from a breeder of show quility Langshans while attening a show. They are so statelyand elegant. They folow me everywhere. We have just placed some of their eggs in our bator, and will be grandparents real soon. Can hardley wait! Y ou will enjoy your guys for a long time. Let us all know how it goes! Oh and welcome from Ohio.
