She seems pretty happy so far. We are moving to a new house and are thinking of getting more. Any ideas on what breed go well with the orpingtons? Thanks..

Any of the really docile breeds such as Australorps, Cochins, Brahmas, Sussex, and Faverolles will go well with the Orpingtons. These breeds can all be turned into lap pets. If eggs are a consideration, Australorps are the best layers on this list (a Black Australorp holds the brown egg laying record with 364 eggs in 365 days), and Cochins are the worst layers (although they are the best brooders and mothers). Brahmas, Sussex, and Faverolles all have about the same laying rate as Orpingtons, although the Brahma eggs tend to be slightly smaller than the others. Just be sure, no matter what breed you get, to introduce them slowly and carefully to your flock of Orpingtons. There is a good article on how to do it at http://poultrykeeper.com/general-chickens/introducing-new-chickens.We are moving to a new house and are thinking of getting more.
