I just got 1 Silkie rooster he is 14 weeks and my 5 hens are 8 weeks. The rooster is a bit ruff with them, so I put him in a cage inside there cage to get him used to them. How long should I keep him in the cage.

. Congrats on the silkies! They're adorable. How much of a size difference is there between your roo and hens right now?

I have let the rooster out with the hens thismorning and they seem to be going much better.

Hello :frow and Welcome to BYC! Good luck with your new silkies, they are adorable chickens. You could try posting your question in the Managing Your Flock board. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/2/managing-your-flock Keep an eye on your girls, silkies seem to be slow to mature, but the roo being older will probably mature before the girls do. He may start trying to mate with them before they are ready, and you may want to separate them again.
