I would suggest 4 breeds from the heavy group. They are much more winter hardy and very good layers year round. do include electricty in your coop as you will want to supplement the light during shorter daylight months. . No heat required as long as have 24/7 feed and water and the coop is draft free. Suggest BA, BO, RIR and BR. If getting a roo, do not get a RIR as I have never seen a friendly one.
