Hi, I have a chicken who lost some feather's & I'm not sure why..

I live in a rural area so we have more feed stores than we have places to buy food for humans.. thanks

I am sure there is something going on, I just have to do every preventive I can think of.. I just got home from picking up my 10 yr old from school and it is just so funny seeing the baby bald chick running as fast as she can to get to the car to be picked up as soon as we get home. She is a funny lookin lil thing..

Yes, I have looked for some nasty little mites and all, none to be found. I just noticed today that He has some feather's growing in the bald place's but slowly. I didn't hatch them from egg's, I got them as pullets from a breeder. Age wise hatched in late June early July. I got them the 6 of July; 6 total but, lost one of the lavender chicks a few days later. The others all made it with My Runty roo being the one missing so many feather's. Hoping that this is a good sign that He may not freeze this winter. I live in Oregon but, winter does get really cold out here.

I will pick up some wormer and do them all.. If I could give him a high protein diet I would but, that means me placing him some were else alone, I was told being alone is a bad idea. So, will see if this works by upping the food amount with more protein based food for them all and hope he gets more of what he needs.. I was also told he may have been under a lot of stress. I watch them 2 or 3 times a day and with a bigger pen the picking has stopped. Thanks for the help, hope that your chick starts growing back some feather's as well..

you could just offer him a couple of tablespoons of canned cat food a day - that would sort the protein part out without isolating him. And if the others steal some, it's ok. Just get good quality stuff.
