Hi! I just received a chick that won't put any weight on her left leg.

Hey, any advice for a week old chick that won't put any weight on its left leg? She's eating and drinking ok. We received her on Saturday and the condition continues. I can't see any obvious injury--I'd really like to do something to help her if possible. Thanks!

You might try posting in the Emergencies https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures forum about her, if you could include a picture that might help. Is the leg just dangling, or is she holding off to the side etc.

Kelsie X2 on posting in the emergency section here on BYC. But sometimes they do get sprains and strains. So for now, if you can separate this one or even make a divider in the brooder so this little one doesn't have to compete for food and water. He may heal in a couple days if he gets enough rest. Make sure his little area has the feed and water close so he doesn't have to go far on his bad leg.

Good luck with your chicks and I hope this little one pulls thru.
