:D:D howdy , I am a first time chicken keeper.
not sure how to proceed , I know enough to be dangerous , BUT i want to become a very good chicken keeper, and have good eggs and meat . as I stumble along i hope to get lots of good info here. ordered my small coop ( more as a trial ) and feeder etc. now i need to do some research and see what is best to do from here. I have had plenty of animals before , but never chickens.SO , i,m excited to get going , and hope Y'alll will assist in keeping me informed by way of your expertise and knowledge and advise.

Welcome to BYC! If you ordered a coop beware that they never hold as many full grown chickens as advertised, often less than half that. From what I hear from others they don’t last long outdoors either. It’s a great way to get started but you might want to plan on building eventually or at least modifying it to make it predator proof. You might consider starting with bantams, they are so cute. Enjoy the chicken adventure and if you don’t know what chicken math is, find out and be prepared!
