I'm Kim Yates, and my husband is Michael. We have two sons, Lil Mike (who is grown & out on his own) and Patrick (who is just about grown & still at home) . Our family has had chickens for about 8 months now, and I have found so much helpful information on this site, that I decided I ought to join. We have a pair of white bantam Cochins (Frankie & Annette), 1 blue standard Cochin hen (Pengen), 2 Buff Orpington hens (Freida & Francy), a pair of Silver Laced Wyndottes (Roxy Roo & Rosie), 3 Ameraucanas (Cleo, Farah, & Moe), and 3 Easter Eggers (Amelia, Audrey, & Sissybird). We also have a black Netherland Dwarf bunny (Charlie), a pair of grey cats (Beary & Earnestine) & 1 Golden Hound (Bucky).
) Raising chickens is a great experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. You have some good docile breeds that are good with children. My children made lap pets of our Cochins and Buff Orpingtons, and our Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's favorites. She loves their colored eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
