Hi a friend suggested I join this site - I am going to be rescuing 3 chickens from a friend who can no longer take care of them - I think they will arrive next weekend - I know nothing about raising chickens except what another friend has told me

Welcome to BYC!

The Learning Center has articles on all aspects of chicken care, if you haven't already taken a look, check it out:

Feel free to ask questions, we were all new at some point.

Nice to have you here and good luck with your new flock!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. X2 on NorthFlChick; if you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your new flock.

Well now you have us to ask when you have questions.

Do you know the health status of the birds you are getting? They may need worming and or/ treatment for lice or mites. Are you getting hens and/or roosters? Are they old(past prime) or young and needing a brooder and other care? These are all good things to discover BEFORE you have them - and and are overwhelmed and unprepared. The Learning center is a great first step in a chicken education course.
