Hi! I'm Agnese, I live in Italy and I raise chickens and rabbits (I also have ducks, geese, cats, a dog, one turtle, and fish)
For Christmas, we gifted ourselves an incubator (Borotto real 49 plus) and now I'm having fun hatching more and more chicks.
I'll put in a batch tomorrow with : cream legbar, olive egger f1, padovana, ayam cemani, and 4 random eggs a seller sent me. It's going to be my first time incubating eggs that have been shipped, I hope at least some will hatch...
Our plans for the summer are to make a new chicken coop and to revamp the chicken enclosure. Also, if the ayam cemani hatch I'll build them a dedicated coop.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
No, I've worked with chickens for some years. I have moved in with my boyfriend and he lives right next to his parents and grandparents. and the grandma raises chickens mainly for eggs. this year I hope to add meat chickens too, but we'll see.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have around 30 adult chicks (some are roo and will not live much longer because we have too many), and 26 pullets. I'll also startanother 49 eggs on the incubator tomorrow
(3) What breeds do you have?
Right now we have livornesi. I hope to add cream legbar, olive egger, padovana and ayam cemani. and who knows what I'll buy in the future!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I like hatching eggs and getting eggs to eat. I mainly raise chickens and rabbits as a way to get food of better quality and to avoid giving money to intensive farms.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to read, crochet, knit, embroider and build things. oh and garden! we have a veggy garden.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm not married but I live with my boyfriend and we have a young child. I have already listed my long list of pets! but I might add more, I'm thinking about getting some peackocks but I'll have to convince the others, they can be quite loud...
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found the forum by chance while I was looking for some ayam cemani facts! and I joined because it's fun!
