Just got 17 chicks and 7 ducklings. I'm already in love with each of them. We are still working on the coop. What size should chicken boxes be? Around 15"? I want some guinea fowl also. Can't find any locally. I'm in WV if anyone knows someone. Thanks in advance.

Welcome new momma!

Chicken boxes...as in where they will lay eggs? 15 inches sounds good.

Welcome & Congratulations!

I recommend a visit to the Learning Centre; lots of good tips there: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you have any Duck related questions, BYC also has a Duck Forum and a Guinea Forum:

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Nice to meet you Bari. Nest box sized pretty much depend on the size of the breeds that will be using them. Bantam sized breeds would use smaller, Large fowl would use bigger.
