Hi, I'm Carnation!

1. I've had chickens before - when I lived on the family farm growing up. That was more than a decade ago, so I've forgotten a lot of what I knew. Good thing I've found this forum!
2. Just yesterday, I bought one hen and her six chicks.
3. There is no certain breed as the place I bought them from doesn't keep track of that. These birds a mix, for sure.
4. I love caring for them and am looking forward to teaching my children about them.
5. Most of my time is taken up with caring for my family. I do like to draw and paint, and play piano though I haven't had one for a few years now. I also have a side business doing henna - mehndi for those is South Asia - and do it recreationally for family.
6. We are a family of 5, I have three kids ages 5.5 years, 3.5 years, and 8 months old. We haven't had any other pets since I got married, so teaching the kids how to properly and respectfully behave with animals is a top goal for me.
7. I just discovered this site today while searching for some answers regarding feed.

I was thinking to trade them for at least one cockerel from a family friend here who has the breed I want. He's got Ayam Cemani's that are nearly 4 months old. He's a hobbyist and doesn't mind trading chickens, even for such a gorgeous breed.
