My husband & I got into chickens when we adopted 8 of them from a neighbor, He had been given them by a well meaning member of his church. However he traveled for his work & had no clue or interest in how to take care of them. The chickens free ranged & were frequently feeding at our wild bird feeder. As my husband had chickens in the past our neighbor was glad to have them off his hands. We were glad to get them. That was 8 years ago. The original chickens have passed. I now have 2 black Australorps, 2 cuckoo marans, 1 ameraucana, 2 mixed breed & a Delaware rooster. This year I added a creme legbar pullet & 3 straight run sage eggers. Like many people I like all the egg colors. Despite 8 years of owning chicken I have a lot to learn about maintaining a healthy flock. I recently learned that the Spanish word for retired is jubilado. My husband & I certainly are enjoying ours. We also enjoy travel & riding our horses

Hello @gpyne2 and :welcome we are so glad to have you join us! :jumpy
It's so great that you adopted those hens from your neighbour. I wish more people would do that. Your current flock sounds like a beautiful mix of colors both in feather and eggs.
I hope you enjoy your time on this site. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. :)
