Hi, I'm Hannah and i need help!

Hello, Hannah, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Why do you want to raise just one chick and then give it to your grandmother? Does your grandmother have chickens?
As has been mentioned multiple times, chickens must be kept in flocks to be truly happy so just raising a lone chick is not a good idea at all and not very fair to the poor chick. Maybe if we find out why you want to raise a chick and give it to your grandmother, we can help find a more reasonable alternative!

X2 on the above post!

Welcome to BYC! Read through the Learning Center article, there's lots of great stuff. Maybe you can show your family how easy it can be to keep chickens. Just watching my 4 little chicks, I can tell that chickens need a flock - and I really want the TX law to pass that will let me officially have 6, instead of the 3 I'm supposed to have. (And will probably go down to - I'm thinking one of ours is a rooster and we can't have those.) They follow each around - in fact, the quietest shyest one will come jump up on my lap once two of the others have.
