Hi! My name is Kim and I live in Alabama. I have had chickens for about 5 years. We currently have 9 Cornish Cross that are almost ready for slaughter and 10 Layer Breeds. Of the layer breeds we have Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons , Speckled Sussex and 1 that we rescued that we aren't 100% sure what she is. We have lost some over the years to neighborhood dogs and coons, but we love our fresh eggs, fresh meat and Good Morning Crowing to give up. My husband and I live on 5 acres and along with our chickens we have a dog, cat (mouser), bees and 2 goats. We found out about Back Yard Chickens when we first started raising chickens 5 years ago. We have gone on and looked, just never officially joined. I decided to join to try and figure out what sexes my Barred Rocks were as they are not showing the typical "in your face" signs either way like all our other breeds always have. We love Glamping in our camper and going to NASCAR races. My husband is a Quality Manager at a Heat Treatment Facility and I work for an Insurance company.
