Decided to raise some egg layers. Build a chicken coop as a project clove your forum. Just getting started so lots of decisions for this project. Choosing between bard rocks and buff orpingtons. Have an idea of pen and house.
I'm unsure what to put on ground that will be easily cleaned. Peace ravel sand etc. Sure I will find the answer her. I'm from Louisiana. NURSE WORK nights. Think this will be work but a great way to enjoy offctime

Either of these breeds make great pets, are great layers and are very friendly. They are both hardy birds as well. As for bedding, I am hooked on sand. It can be hosed down in the summer to keep the birds cool, it is easy to clean, keeps the flies away, it stays dry when wet, and it is very easy to maintain.
