Im in the middle of bulding him a coop.. Maybe Ill add one or two more chickens. Im reading about how to determin the gender for al I could gather it seems like a male but I dont know.. I want to know what you think.

When I got her or him it was smaller.. It was missin some of the feeders but I think ut was my cat who bite te feeders out.

I will kep reading on this site.. Cheers!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! That's so nice of you to take the bird in and keep it. Quite a way to get into chicken keeping I have to say. You have certainly come to the right place for lots of learning on how to keep chickens happy safe and healthy. You might like to post your pic in the what breed gender section of the forum for help on determining sex and breed. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

The learning centre also has lots of great articles that will help you with your new hobby. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Wishing you the very best of luck in the future, be sure to ask any questions that you may have. Everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

He is cute. Now he needs a friend! Besides you. One that will lay eggs. But you see, and as you will learn, there is this thing, called chicken math. It is a joke among us chicken folks. We love our chickens. Sometimes it's hard to admit how many chickens we have. Or, sometimes folks like to brag how many they have..and it all started...with one, or two, chickens. Then the math started to add...UP! :D Have fun. So nice of you to help this little bird out.

Welcome! I'm pretty new as well. It definitely looks like a male with such a red comb and wattles. It looks sorta like a black australorp. I'm not 100% sure on the breed but I'm pretty sure on the gender :)

To me, it appears to be a male. Roosters can handle 10 hens - too little and they tend to overbreed and damage hens. Do you want to get further into chicken raising, or just have this one as a pet?

First I didnt think of having chickens before I got this one. Then I wish for him to be a Hen so I coudl get some eggs. Now I dont realy know what to do... Because after reading and seeing videos about chicken coops I wanted to have at most 3 chickens. as I said Im building him a coop but it is not very large. 6,5 fett long x 4.9 wide x 3,2 hight. So now I dnt know is should just have this rooster or give him at least two more hens. what do you thik of the size of the coop?
