(1) I've kept chickens for about 20 years now since we "retired" to the country.

(2) We only have four at present which is enough eggs for me, my husband and my mother 95, who lives with us.

(3) We have ISA-brown chooks.

(4) It's great having fresh organic eggs, manure for the compost and I love them.

(5) I spend my days gardening mostly, doing art, ceramics (novice), pilates, yoga & meditation, reading, podcasts, learning Italian, and looking after my mother who is Japanese, and my 5yo granddaughter. Whew!

(6) I live with my husband of almost 50 years and my mother, whom we "rescued" from a residential aged care facility where she chose to go after my dad had a stroke about 6 years ago. She continued to live there after dad died but became increasingly depressed.
Anyway, she lives with us now and is in good spirits and pretty good health.
We have a delightful little dog, called Bonnie, whom we adopted when my elder daughter moved to NewJersey with her husband and 15yo son. She is back in Australia at present working as a doctor, and can't get "home" to US for a while (Covid-19). So she's also living with us, but in isolation in our downstairs flat, to protect my mother.

(7) I found BYC when I did an Internet search for answers to my current problem with my poor chickens - one in particular - who have painful looking red exposed skin. They and the henhouse have been treated twice for mites and lice. I can't be sure they are dead. Three look to be recovering but one still looks red raw. I'm wondering if she's going to be OK. Also when the feathers will grow back.
They are only laying 3 eggs. I'll ask this question on a thread I found on this site.
