Hello Everyone!

Happy to join this great community as a newbie. :)

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
This is my first time incubating duck eggs or any type of eggs on my own outside of school as a child. I know this may be weird, but I have always dreamed of incubating my own eggs and raising them. I have so much love for all animals and the space to take care of them.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I do not have any chickens or ducks, but I have done hours and hours of research. I have all the necessary needs for a duck to live a very happy life.

(3) What breeds do you have?

I ordered these eggs from a farm and they were a random assortment of either Cayuga, Buff, Pekin, Khaki Campbell, and Rouen. I did my research and these seem to be Pekin eggs that I chose to incubate out of the eggs I received. I ordered 9 and only decided to incubate 2 for my first time.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Animals are all silly and unique, they require lots of love and care. I have the ability/time/space/love/education to give and so why the heck not raise some ducks.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I am a homebody, so a lot of my favorite activities occur around the house. I love to cook, paint, spoil my animals, binge on the best new shows and movies, and spend time with my husband.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I currently have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a large fish tank. I work as an engineer for Medical Devices, so I am very into research projects, working on new projects, and keeping myself busy and moving around the house. I have been an animal lover since the day I was born. I was raised in a family that was very open to all animals and continue to be this way as an adult.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I have been doing a lot of research through this community. I think it is important not only to read facts, but to learn about everyone's personal experiences with egg hatching and incubating. It has helped a lot with this being my first time incubating eggs at home.
