I have a very injured chicken with its back mutilated and I Don't know if it will make it.I'm hopeful because we are spraying it with some medication and have medicated feed,is there anything else I should try?

Hi there, welcome to BYC and Happy New Year! I've got a link to the Emergencies/Diseases section here. Just start a thread there (like you did here) and help will be on its way. I hope your chicken gets well soon!

Welcome to BYC glad you joined. the Emergencies/Diseases section should be more helpful.

Chickens generally have great recuperative powers, and seem to recovery from fearsome injuries. Generally people use Neosporin (NO CAINE forumula) on wounds. If you live in a warm climate be sure that flies don't lay eggs in the wound, subsequent maggots will do much worse damage than the original injury.

Check often to see if wound get infected, then you would need an antibiotic for the bird.
