Hi Lydia and welcome to our community. Maybe check out the Breeds section (one of the brown tabs at the top of the page) and see what may take your fancy. This link may also be helpful - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/byc-mobile-site-quick-start-guide. My advice would be to get a variety of breeds - that way, you will soon find out what breeds suit you and your climate the best. As for names - can't help you there - I don't name any of my flock.
