I just got my first 4 chickens from my mother-in-law last October. She had no idea what breed they were, she'd had 3 or 4 types interbreeding. 3 of them started laying in December, 1 of them still isn't laying at all. I get 3 eggs a day, one of them is blue. I just got a copper marans rooster from a friend. Anyone have any ideas why my 4th hen isn't laying?

I'd be inclined to wait a couple of months before being concerned. If your birds free range, one may bird may be laying elsewhere there than the coop.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa. For example, here in Aus, tis the season to be moulting .. hence, no eggs being laid ;)
