Welcome from New Orleans. You have gotten some great info and links to info already. It is so exciting to start planning for chickens. IMHO I would start with a local breeder to start my chicken collection. Google local breeders and see if they sell some birds you are interested in. Good luck, build your coop first and build it way larger than how many birds you think you want, I promise you will end up with way more than you thought down the road. Chickens are an addiction!!
