Hello! Welcome to BYC!
I'm sure someone that know more about chickens than I do will help in a moment, but I hope you find this site useful and maybe even make some friends with us nutters!
Did you find that immediately after the hen laid it? Other birds may have eaten the contents previously. If you found it right after it was laid, it appears it may have been thin shelled and it came out in pieces. Older hens can have troubles as do very young layers. Lack of calcium or the inability to use calcium properly in the shell gland can cause laying issues.
Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
All the questions I would have asked about the girl that laid the shell-less egg have been asked. If you answer the questions we can give you advice on what to do to help her.
