Hi I have been a chicken mom for a year now it's been awesome ,scary and worth every second. I have 2 barred rocks Betty and Margey we had 4 but 1 was rooster we had to give him away we aren't allowed him where we live and the other is, or was, it still hurts she was are favorite squeak she died from being poisoned don't know how but any way I have the 2 girls left and one was attacked by raccoon 3months ago and i nursed her back from death she is blind in one eye her beak is mangled but she is big and happy and she is the head honcho around here but I'm really worried some times for the past 2 day when she is resting she sounds like she is shaking a spray paint can in side her she seems fine but I've never heard anything like it. she eats mostly dew worms and pellets and lots of scraps from us and it's not her purring I've already seen her brooding and those sound are nothing like this one. Please if anyone has any answers? I'm all ears. I'm just so worried, thanks for your time ,oh I'm Sarah by the way I'm new here too

The one that was poisoned, do you know if she ate anything that had mold on it? That will kill them pretty fast. Another thing, they have no crow collars for roosters. It won't stop them from crowing but it will make it a lot lower. Your other hen do you give her free range? Do you make grit and oyster shell available? Grit is to grind the food down and beings you give them scraps, they will need that. The oyster shell is for the eggs so they have a hard shell and don't break inside them. The sound in her tummy, I would have to hear it. Is it possible to get a video of it?
